Bye Bye Bye Kids!

-->
The two old kids just left. They decided to take a cab instead of the subway. The subway was a hard thing for them. It was kinda cute.

We went to Alice's Tea Cup for brunch on Saturday morning. It is one of my favorite places in the city. Dad really like it the last time we went, so I thought it would be nice to go again. We spent most of Saturday at Coney Island. It was a long ride out there, but I think they were glad they went. Dad went on Cyclone and loved it. He had to buy the "I survived the Cyclone" t-shirt. I think he left with four or five new t-shirts. We really just took pictures and ate at Nathans. They both enjoyed the Nathans hot dogs.

We hit up Canal Street on the way back home. Canal Street is just one of those places you need to experience at least once. After checking out some of the store, we walked up Little Italy.

I really wanted Dad to try Rice to Riches. He said he didn’t really like rice pudding, but he would try anything for me. Well, he tried some of the chocolate and fell in love. He said if he knew it was that good he would have gotten one of the larger ones. We ended up buying two epics for him to take back to Kari and Mom. Now that's what I call love. Kari is addicted to Rice to Riches. Dad sure is nice for taking it back for her. Aunt Susan didn't try any. She said it looked nasty. Her lose!

We went to dinner at Bubba Gumps and then the kids went to see Mamma Mia! They both loved loved loved it! I was so happy. They paid a lot of money for the tickets, so I was glad that they enjoyed it so much. They were excited when they got back.

We walked across central park today. Then we walked down to the NBA store. Dad sure loves that store. We then went to Bed Bath and Beyond, where Dad bought me a new toilet seat. He's so sweet. The one at my apartment was broken and Dad kept making comments about it. He even put the new one on. Thanks Dad!

It was sure fun having them here. They are bot h so funny and make life interesting. They are now talking about coming back next year to go to the US Open again. I hope! I really enjoy the free dinner! I will nee d to go on a hardcore diet for the next month to lose the weight I gained while they we re here. I don’t think I have ever eaten that much in my life. It sure was good.

The Kids update...

Friday, August 29, 2008

Well, Dad and Aunt Susan are sure keeping busy. They went to Wicked on Wednesday, the Yankee game (against Boston) on Thursday, and today they are at the US Open. They sure are living it up.

They both loved Wicked. They loved it so much that they decided to go see another show. Aunt Susan really wanted to see Mamma Mia, so we went and got tickets for them for Saturday night. They are out of control.

They both loved the Yankee game too. Dad bought a hat and shirt to wear. They were excited that it was a really good game and the Yankees beat Boston! Go Yankees! I met them after for dinner. I saw dad walking down the site walk in all his Yankee gear and a large camera around his neck. What a tourist.

Today was the US Open. I have talked to them twice today and it sounds like they are having a great time. They got to see Roger Federer play, so they are really happy kids. They saw three matches, but then Aunt Susan decided she really wanted to stay for another. It's going to be a late night for them. Dad said Aunt Susan is like a kid in a candy shop. She's just lovin' it out there.

I've had dinner with them the past two nights. We went to Hard Rock Cafe on the first night and Chocolate by the Bald Man last night. Good food! It's been fun spending time with them. We're going to try and hit up Coney Island tomorrow. It's going to be a mess, because it's a holiday weekend. Wish me luck.

Trouble's coming my way!

Wednesday, August 27, 2008

So my dad and aunt are coming to stay with me for a few days. I love them both, but they are pure trouble! They are not here yet, but I already have the feeling I'm going to be playing babysitter. They called about two hours ago and told me they were at the airport and heading my way. They still aren't here. It doesn't take two hours to get to my hours from the airport. I think they may have decided to walk. They have tickets for a lot things for the five days that they are here. Did they invite me to do any of these things with them? That's a no! Oh, well. Wish me luck.

(Here they are on the trolley in San Fran. Don't they look like trouble. This is the only pick I have of the two of them. It's hard to get pictures of my aunt.)

Broadway: Shrek: The Musical?

Friday, August 22, 2008

I just thought I would share this with you. Once again, I'm not too sure how I feel about it. While I do feel like this costume is a nice attempt, I don't feel like it's spot on. Actually, I think it's kinda creepy. Maybe it will grow on my when I see the show. The plan is to get tickets for December when my mom and sister come to town. I just hope I can get tickets. I'm starting to really miss Broadway. If feels like months since I have seen a show. I think it will be a goal to go see [Title of Show] in September. I hear it's really good.

Almost the Way I Like it…

I have been spending some time making my room a little cozier. Here are a few before and after shots.

Before:

After:

I think I need a rug. Something is missing.

I also want to point out that I have managed to purchase three things that I have been wanted to buy for some time now. One is a black chair for my desk. I have wanted one since I got my desk months ago, but didn’t want to carry it on the subway. Now that I live around the corner from staples, I had to get it. I’m so happy. The second thing on my most wanted list was a vanity. My other room was too small to get one, but I have wanted one for a long time. I found one on the Internet for very cheap and decided I need to get it. I love it! The last needed item was a mouse for my computer. I found a pink mouse at staples today and decided that it was a must have. It matches my computer! How could I turn that down? Now I have no extra money to play. Will I be able to make it to the next pay check? We shall see.

You've Got Mail...I live on the set.

Saturday, August 9, 2008

I don't know why, but it seems like wherever I move it's near a significant place in You've Got Mail. The Shop Around the Corner was literally the shop around the corner. I passed it every day on my way to work. Sadly, I never got a picture of it. It's only 12 blocks down, I should go get one.

After dinner with Kort and picking up our pottery last night, we walked down Amsterdam toward my apartment. We decided to go get a treat on Broadway and started to cross over when I saw this really cute cafe. Kort said it was Cafe Labo from You Got Mail. They changed the inside a little for the movie (less tables in the movie), so I had a hard time recognizing the inside. I watched the scene where Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan rendezvous. Yep, it is the place and it's only a few blocks from my new place. I love it! We decided to have our dessert there. It was really fun.

Kort also took me to the place where they filmed the final scene a month ago. I really should watch You Got Mail again to find places. I love New York!

And we’re back in business…

After suffering for five days with no phone, mom spending a lot of time on her phone with t-mobile, and shipping issues with UPS, I finally got my phone! Feel free to call! I don’t have all the numbers that were in my old phone, so if you call and I sound confused or don't answer - don’t be offended!

While trying to get my phone replaced, the people at t-mobile informed me that i needed to get my sim card replaced. A sim card should be replaced every three years according to them, and mine was going on seven years old. Thanks t-mobile! I have talked and/or showed you my phone several times in the past few years and no one ever mentioned that that could be a problem.

So my next project is to get a new sim card. Sorry for complaining so much about my phone drama. I am grateful for having a phone! Thanks again Mom!

More of an old story....

I talked a little about this in a previous post, but MR does a better job relaying the story.

I’m Phoneless: Part II

Sunday, August 3, 2008

After a few angry words with the T-Mobile people on Saturday morning, I got a hold of my mom and had her fix my little problem (unfortunately for her it was at 6am her time). Of course she stepped up to the plate and got everything figured out, but I have to wait until next Wednesday to get a phone. Booo! I am grateful that mom could get the phone replaced. She also made it so my name is on the account so the mean T-Mobile people will be a little nicer to me next time. Thanks Mom! You’re the best.

Movin' on UP!

I moved! I took off Friday to start the moving process and finished last night. Wow. I really hate moving. I hope I won’t have t o do it for awhile. Here are a few pictures of my room. The first is one when I first got here and the second is one I took this morning with all my stuff everywhere. I was suppose to unpack last night, but I got really sick while out playing Kort last night (pics soon to follow) that I came home early and showered and went to bed. I still have a headache, but I hope I get some unpacking done today.

Special shout out to Alberto, Kort, and Leah. Kort helped me take a load over on Friday and was the watcher on Saturday while Alberto and I brought the stuff down. Very special thanks to Alberto for carrying all the heavy boxes and loading the car in the rain. I couldn’t have done it without you! Even after loading a whole car, I still had a few things I needed to take over, so Leah and Kort so graciously offered to help. I just have to drop off the keys and grab a few things in the fridge, and them I’m

I'm Phoneless!

Friday, August 1, 2008

I would really love to have long memorable conversations over the phone with all of you, but alas that is not possible.

My phone randomly stopped working today. The powers on and the screen lights up, but the keys don't work. I had a friend try and call me to see what would happen, but it just went straight to voice mail. I don't have anyone’s numbers, because they are all in my phone. What's a girl to do? Whenever I have problems like this I always call my mom and have her fix them for me, but now I can't! I just feel so lost and alone.

My phone is only six months old! It's a baby! I knew it would be trouble from the very beginning. I knew I should never trust a purple phone.
