She asks me why, I'm just a hairy guy

In the Hospital - 3 days old

He's a hairy little guy! In the hospital we were able to style his hair with some water, but that's all changed. I can't get this guys hair to stay down! We went to the doctors on Monday and the first thing Dr. Gomez said when he looked at Cohen was, "Cohen must have been wearing a hat!" I said, "Yes, but it doesn't really matter...his hair always looks like this." The truth is that he's starting to look like a troll doll and his hair really should be cut. It think I'm going to try and do it myself. :) I figure it can't be worse than it is now.

Please note the picture of Cohen's ear below. He has the hairiest little ears ever! I looked up hairy baby ears online :) to see when about the hair should fall out. Some people said that their babies had it for over a year.

I guess I'm just stuck with my little hairy guy...but that's ok! I love him for it!

How Old Are You?

Dads Birthday Card

You may be one old Chimp, but you're sure a good-looking one! Hope you have a wonderful birthday and don't get into too much trouble! Oh, and I hope you make it down to Disneyland this year :)

I'll take you to a show in May. Maybe we will go see Matilda. Wouldn't that be perfect! Taking an old poop like you to a kids show!

Two Months Old!

Monday, January 13, 2014

Guess who's two months old (as of yesterday)! Cohen! I can't believe it's only been two months :) Jeff says he feels like we just brought him home. I feel like we have had him forever! I'm a terrible mom!

Smiling
Just call him Mr. Smiles. I didn't really get a good picture of his smile. He seems to know that I'm preparing for a picture and then stops smiling when I pull out my camera. He's just like his dad. Cohen smiles the most in the morning. I love walking into his room and seeing him just smiling up at me.

Sucking on his fist
Cohen recently started sucking on his fist. At first I thought it was a sign he was hungry, but then he started sucking on it right after he eats. I don't know why he does it, but he sure loves it...and drools all over himself

Sleeping/Grunting
Cohen now sleeps 8 hours at night! Yay for a decent night sleep! However, he does wake up at 4 am or 5 am and grunts. He doesn't really wake up, he just lays there and waves his arms and legs and grunts. From what I read it's normal. Jeff use to get up and feed him, but after a few times we discovered he wasn't hungry he just grunts. He only does it for about an hour and then he falls back into a deep sleep. Due to the grunting, we have moved Cohen into his room to sleep. This makes me really sad, but Jeff couldn't handle the grunting and kicked him out.

Watching
Cohen is totally enamored by all the colors in his room. He catches his eye on something and just stares. He loves watching the mobile in his crib. He sits there and laughs and smiles as it goes round and round. Jeff likes to lean over the crib and the two of them make faces at each other.

Cooing
A couple of weeks ago Cohen started chatting it up. He makes all sorts of noises and generally does it when he's smiling at us. I love hearing him!

Cohen's Room - Thanks Grandma!

Friday, January 10, 2014

I decided to do a Dr. Seuss themed room for Cohen's baby room. Thanks to Grandma (my mom) it turned out amazing! My mom made the curtains, the crib skirt, wall hanging, and quilt. She did a fantastic job! The room looked so blah before she arrived and put everything up!

Grandma and Grandpa (my mom and dad) bought the mobile for the crib. My mom said the Cohen needed something to look at. She was sure right! Cohen loves the mobile. He lays under it and just laughs and kicks his legs and waves his arms (I tried to get pictures of this, but he ended up going to sleep on me). It's so fun to watch him get excited! Grandma calls it "going to school."

Thanks to everyone who helped make Cohen's room complete!

SNOW!

Wednesday, January 8, 2014

I can't believe we have already had a couple snow storms and it's only the beginning of January! We had one again last weekend which brought us six inches of snow and now this week we are supposed to get freezing temperatures! It's going to be a cold winter.

I love taking pictures of the snow. Maybe during the next snow storm I will get off my lazy bum and get out and take pictures of it.

First day of my diet....but first...a quick trip to Carlo's Bakery

Monday, January 6, 2014

I'm going to be more healthy this year! Today is the first day of my diet. Let's be honest, there will probably be several "first day of my diet" days this year :) They're usually Mondays.

As a last minute sweet treat this weekend I went to Carlo' Bakery....you know....the Cake Boss Bakery. I've been wanting to go to his bakery in Hoboken, but have never made the trek. Also, I heard that it is crazy busy with lines down the street. Well, the Cake Boss is doing so well that he has started opening bakeries all over the area and that includes Red Bank! Basically, it takes me longer to park than to drive to the bakery :) and that's a bad thing!

Everything looked absolutely delicious! I ended up buying a few different things for Jeff and me to try (Cream Puff, Hazelnut Cream Puff, Eclair, Strawberry Shortcake Eclair, and a Lobster Tail). Jeff said everything was "decent." I thought everything was better than decent. I did like the "lobster tail." It was kind of too sweet but the pastry was great!

I guess I will have to wait until the next day before my "first day of my diet" before I can go again. How long do you think that will be?

Cohen's Baby Blessing

Friday, January 3, 2014

Several months ago Jeff told me that he didn't want to have Cohen's baby blessing at the chapel, but preferred doing a small get-together at our house with family. I had never heard of baby blessings being at home, but when I talked to people at church (including the Stake President) I found out that it's totally ok and is more common than I thought.

So, we invited our family (and Bishop) to our house last Saturday for Cohen's Blessing and brunch! It was lovely and a memorable event. Cohen slept through the whole thing and was a total trooper as we passed him around so everyone could hold him.

Jeff and I are so happy to have Cohen in our lives! We are truly blessed.
