New Jersey: Allaire State Park

Friday, October 19, 2012

After two days of road trips we decided to visit some of the places around our place in New Jersey. WE ended up visiting Allaire State Park. I had heard a lot about the park and the Historic Village, so I was excited to finally see it. It's so lovely! I kind of want to go back and ride the train around Christmas time.

Doesn't Kari looked thrilled to be there!

Two or More Covered Bridges?

Wednesday, October 17, 2012

After the Amish Farm and House we decided to see some covered bridges. Kari and I were hopping to only see a couple of bridges on our way back home, but Jeff insisted that my mom and Barb would want to see more than two (he was complaining about having to drive all over the countryside to see them). Kari and I were confident that we would only see the bridges on our way home and were willing to bet on it. Luckily we never established the stakes of the bet because I realized after getting in the car that since Jeff was driving he would make us go to as many bridges as he wanted. Despite his annoyance of driving all over the countryside to see bridges, Jeff insisted on winning the bet  and   drove to four bridges! It's amazing what he will do to win a bet that we didn't even officially make.

Target or The Amish Farm and House?

Tuesday, October 16, 2012

I'm so behind! I've been meaning to post about the rest of my September family vacation, but ran out of time before my little trip to Utah and Vegas! I will post about that later...

After our little visit to Bird-In-Hand we stopped by The Amish Farm and House. We did a little tour of the house and then wandered the grounds. I will admit that the tour was not all that great. If you're interested in learning about the clothes that the Amish wear, then this is the tour for you!

The location of this house is kind of funny because it is literally right next door to a Target. It actually shares a parking lot with a bunch of different stores.

A Quick Trip to Bird-In-Hand, PA

Monday, October 1, 2012

Let me step back for a second....some of you may have realized a trend over the past few years and that is that my family almost always takes a trip to visit me in September. I guess you can say it's an Anderson family tradition. :) Well, once again my family came out to stay with me for about 10 days a couple of weeks ago. This time they brought longtime family friend, Barb. She's such a good time!

I really love being with my family and I'm so lucky that they are willing to come visit and spend time with me. Apparently not all families like to do that and I've totally been taking my family for granted.

Anyways....the next several post are going to be about the adventures I had with my family.

Now....to Bird-In-Hand.

While my family was visiting we decided to go to Bird-In-Hand. They have a bunch of little shops and the Bird-In-Hand Market. I will admit I was a little disappointed in the market. I feel like the Reading Terminal Market in Philly is better.

However, we enjoyed eating whoopie pies, looking at the beautiful quilts, and checking out the assortment of crafts.

There was only one restaurant that we could see in Bird-In-Hand and it seemed like the local hot-spot. It wasn't really the best food, but it was fun watching all the locals interact :)
