What is Restaurant Week?

Restaurant week is an event that occurs twice a year in NYC. It consists of about 250 (give or take) restaurants offering prefix meals for a fraction of their usual price. It gives people a chance to try a lot of quality restaurants. Well, it averages about $25 to $35 for a prefix meal. I know it sounds like a lot, but it's a good deal! Example: the appetizer I had last week is usually $20 by itself. I got that, an entree, and dessert for $35.

On the Town!

Sunday, January 25, 2009

Selki invited me to go to dinner with her and two of her friends for restaurant week. We went to this amazing restaurant called Town. Town is probably the most expensive restaurant I have ever been to, but thanks to Resturant week it was totally afordable! I had Risotto of escargots with sweet roasted garlic and black truffles for my appatizer. It was fun to try something that I have never had before. All the food was absolutly amazing! Even the rolls were delectible! (I ate like six of them. I couln't help it). I just love restuarnat week!

I'm done! I'm done!

I have been working on a big project for work for over a month now. It took up most of my Christmas vacation and a lot of my weekends. I'm so proud to announce that we were officially done on Wednesday! It feels so good. Of course I have several new projects going now, but I'm so glad this one has finally finished.

Due to the project, I haven't had much time to blog. I promise to try and catch up over the next few days. Happy Weekend!

Broadway: I can't really explain it, I haven't got the words

All I know is that I have a new favorite musical! Sorry Hairspray, but Billy Elliot has rocked my world (and in a good way). I saw little, charming Kiril Kulish as Billy Elliot and by the end of the show, I had fallen in love with him!

I bought the soundtrack first thing when I got home and haven't listened to anything else since. It's just so good. (I feel like I should also state that there is a lot of swearing in the show and therefore, on the soundtrack. I rationalize it with "it's ok, because swearing is charming when it's said with British accent.")

Touching story, fabulous music, and outstanding dancing. I can't wait until I see it again. (Oh, and if you decide to go see it, make sure you get tickets in the center sections. The people at the box office will tell you that parts of the side sections are full view and charge you the full amount. Don't fall for it! Only get tickets in the center section. It's just the safest way. It's kind of a terrible theater.)

yes....i'm still alive.

Sorry for the lack of posting. Due to the weather in Washington, it was quite the struggle to get everybody home. Mom and Kari's flight was canceled on Monday (Dec 22), but we were lucky to get them out the next day on two different flights. What a Christmas. I was able to make it home, but I spent most of the time working on a big project for work. I just hope next Christmas is as magical as this one.

We ended up celebrating Christmas with the family on Jan 3, because Grandma and Grandpa A couldn't make it on Christmas . It was good to see the family. We always have a good time. Here are some pictures from our little get together.
