Disney World Day 2: Lights...Camera...Action!

Our second day was spent at Disney's Hollywood Studios. I remember not really caring for this park, but I rather enjoyed it this time around. Of course we arrived early and waited through the opening show.We then hurried over to the Tower of Terror. It's such a great ride, but the new Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith was amazing! Dad didn't go on it at first because we were afraid he would get sick, but after we got off we fast passed it so he could go on it. He loved it too.We then went over and had our pic taken with Mickey and some of the characters from Bolt. It was fun seeing Mickey. I have never seen the Bolt movie so I didn't know what the name of the hamster was. We asked real quick before we had our picture taken with him. FYI...his name is Rhino.We also had our pictures taken with Lightning McQueen and Mater. I love these guys!
The Beauty and the Beast show was our next stop. We waited outside for about 30 min. We sent Mom to get some Mickey ice cream sandwiches. These are my dads favorite! Got to love a good Mickey ice cream sandwich. Oh, and the Beauty and the Beast show was terrible. Usually I like all of the Disney shows, but they really didn't do well on this one.Dinner that night was at Hollywood and Vine. I wasn't a fan. The food was okay, but I'm really not into buffets anymore.

Disney World: One Short Day in the Animal Kingdom!

We went to the Animal Kingdom on our first day in Disney World. This was the only one of the four parks that I have never been to, so I was really excited.My dad has this thing about being at amusement parks at least 15 min before they open. He's so funny that way. So...we arrived early and did the waiting thing. Our first goal was to go on Expedition Everest. It's the only roller coaster in the park, so we knew lines would get long. Luckily we walked right on! It was a so much fun!
We then made our way over to the safari ride. I have heard lots about it, so I was excited to finally get to see it. My dad heard it was a little cheesy, but we were all pleasantly surprised at how fun it was. There were so many cool animals.There really isn't a whole lot at this park. We did see two shows. One was a lion king thing that was kind of cool. The other was the Finding Nemo Musical. I really enjoyed it. I wish it was a little longer. They really cruised through that show.Of course we watched the parade. Gotta love a good Disney parade.We then made our way over to Yak & Yeti for dinner. I really loved this restaurant. The food was soooooo good. Then we headed home for a little swim time in the pool (this hardly happens on an Anderson family Disney vaction.) I loved it!

Disney World!

I just spent the last seven days in the happiest place on earth! What a trip! I will be providing a play by play of the families actions this weekend, but here's a sneak peak. I sure love Disney World!

Just Another Ride on the Bus

So...Elizabeth and I jumped on the cross town bus to get to Fifth Ave. I rarely ride the bus around town, but after this experience I think I might start.

I got on first and quickly made my way to the second of the two buses (it was a double bus). I got to the spinney part where the two buses connect (where I like to sit), but there was someone there and I didn't want to sit straight across from them. That can be awkward. So I sat in the first row of the second bus. Elizabeth quickly joined me. I was sitting there looking out the window enjoying my little bus ride, when Elizabeth nudged me and whispered, "look who it is?" I looked at the two people sitting in my favorite seat and realized it was David Duchovny and his little son!We both did our best to keep cool, but you could feel the excitement in the air. It was at this point that his son dropped his backpack and the legos he was playing with. He jumped down and picked up his things, but left a lone lego on the floor of the bus. Over eager and without hesitation, Elizabeth and I both politely alerted him that he had dropped a lego (enthusiastically pointing as well).

David and his son both leaned over to see the lonely lego on the floor. The little guy jumped down and picked it up. David smiled at us and said, "Thanks!" Yes, that's right. David Duchovny looked at me and said thanks. I think that pretty much makes us best friends. What do you think?

I tried to sneak a picture on my phone, but it didn't turn out overly well. This truly made Elizabeth's New York trip complete. Nothing says New York like a seeing a celebrity in the wild.

Broadway: In other words, just from waiting around for that plain little band of gold....A person can develop a cold.

So, I went to see Guys and Dolls with Elizabeth. I have never seen the movie or even know anything about the story. The only exposure I have to it is the song "Adelaide' Lament," which I love. I know the reviews weren't good, but I have learned not to always trust them.

Well, I liked it. Is it the best show on Broadway? No. Is the acting anything superb? No. But it was a fun and entertaining show. It was also fun seeing Oliver Platt, Lauren Graham, Craig Bierko, and Kate Jennings Grant on stage. That Craig Bierko looks amazing in a white suite (yumm!). I felt like Bierko and Grant had good chemistry, but I really wasn't feeling it between Platt and Graham.
As for Lauren Graham, I will say I was surprised. I didn't really care for her acting in the beginning, but by the end she grew on me. I'm not sure if it was the character or the acting, but it took me some time getting use to her. I was totally surprised when she started to sing. When she started "Adelaide' Lament" she was so so, but by the end I couldn't believe what was coming out of her mouth. Who knew she had those kind of pipes! It was so fun seeing her play this role.Best part of the show? When Nicely Nicely Johnson came out and sang, "Sit Down, You're Rockin' the Boat." Fabulous! I could watch that number over and over again. Tituss Burgess was absolutely amazing!

I'm Wicked!.....Day 4

Saturday:

So we had two game plans for Saturday:

Plan 1. We would go to get brunch at Alice's Tea Cup and then try the Wicked lottery. We were planning on losing, so we would then make our way to the UN and then down town to explore some more.

Plan 2. Alice's Tea Cup and Wicked lottery, but we would win and go see the show. We didn't have much planned after that.
Well, we had a delightful brunch at Alice's Tea Cup. This is one of my favorite places in New York. Elizabeth really liked it. We then headed down to midtown for the lottery. I prepped Elizabeth for disappointment. It's hard to win the lottery and I didn't want to get her hopes up. Well, about three people from the end, the lottery man called my name! I screamed and ran up. (P.S. I was the only winner that screamed. The lottery sure isn't what it use to be). Elizabeth was sooo excited.We wasted time by walking to the Rock, grabbing a slice of pizza, and chilling in Time Square. It was actually quite relaxing. We then went to the show and of course Elizabeth loved it. She liked Jersey Boys better, but she enjoyed the show.We then headed back to my apartment for a relaxing night of Chinese food and movies. It was nice to have a little break. We also threw in a little photo session with our new hats. Always a must.
