The US Open and NEXT TO NORMAL!

Friday, September 11, 2009

Dad and Aunt Susan went to the US Open on Thursday. They were so excited that they got to see the Williams sisters play doubles. They really love going to the US Open (especially Aunt Susan).

Kari slept and read most of the day, but came down to meet me for lunch (I had to work all day). We then met up after work for dinner and NEXT TO NORMAL! This was the show I have wanted Kari to see. She loved it! She said it may now be one of her favorites shows.

The US Open...

I went to the US Open! It's something I have been wanted to do, but just never made it happen. Liz happened to have an extra ticket, so I tagged along with her and her friends Lauren and Andrea. It was so much fun.
We arrived early so we could watch a few of the other matches going on in the complex. We got to watch most of the Peer vs. Kuznetsova match.
We came to see Safina vs. Kvitova and Blake vs Robredo, but unfortunately the Isner vs Roddick game went way over, so they had the both matches at the same time in different stadiums. We were totally upset! It was fun watching the Isner vs Roddick game on the big screen in the complex. The energy was so amazing. Confession: I'm glad that Isner won. Don't hate me!
I decided to spend most of my time at the Safina vs Kvitova game. Safina is ranked number one and I really wanted to watch her play. Liz and I ended up watching the whole match and then hurrying over to see Blake. Poor Blake. Robredo smashed him. We got over there in time to see the last game of the third set (but we got amazing seats because we came so late).
We had such a great time. I don't think I will have a chance to get out there again, but I'm for sure getting tickets for next year.

The Kids update...

Friday, August 29, 2008

Well, Dad and Aunt Susan are sure keeping busy. They went to Wicked on Wednesday, the Yankee game (against Boston) on Thursday, and today they are at the US Open. They sure are living it up.

They both loved Wicked. They loved it so much that they decided to go see another show. Aunt Susan really wanted to see Mamma Mia, so we went and got tickets for them for Saturday night. They are out of control.

They both loved the Yankee game too. Dad bought a hat and shirt to wear. They were excited that it was a really good game and the Yankees beat Boston! Go Yankees! I met them after for dinner. I saw dad walking down the site walk in all his Yankee gear and a large camera around his neck. What a tourist.

Today was the US Open. I have talked to them twice today and it sounds like they are having a great time. They got to see Roger Federer play, so they are really happy kids. They saw three matches, but then Aunt Susan decided she really wanted to stay for another. It's going to be a late night for them. Dad said Aunt Susan is like a kid in a candy shop. She's just lovin' it out there.

I've had dinner with them the past two nights. We went to Hard Rock Cafe on the first night and Chocolate by the Bald Man last night. Good food! It's been fun spending time with them. We're going to try and hit up Coney Island tomorrow. It's going to be a mess, because it's a holiday weekend. Wish me luck.
